9/19/2012 11:11 Cameron Rutt Class I Diagnostic Photograph The photos reveal a small tern with translucent primaries and small black tipping across the underside of the outermost primaries. This, in conjunction with two-toned gray upperwings (slightly darker gray upperwing coverts with paler primaries/secondaries), are a good match for Arctic Tern. A more detailed written description would be helpful, especially for bill coloration/pattern (something that was probably more readily visible in the field).
