The National Aviary in Pittsburgh is America’s sole independent indoor nonprofit zoo for birds. With over 500 birds from 150 species, many endangered, visitors experience intimate interactions in walk-through habitats, including hand-feeding rare species. The Aviary’s conservationists lead global efforts to save birds and habitats, while educational programs promote conservation ethics and nature appreciation.
Western Pennsylvania Conservancy
The WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA CONSERVANCY protects and restores exceptional places to provide our region with CLEAN WATERS and healthy forests, wildlife and NATURAL AREAS for the benefit of present and future generations.
Allegheny Land Trust (ALT) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization helping local people save local land in the Pittsburgh Region. Protecting more than 3,700 acres of green space across 42 different municipalities in Allegheny and Washington Counties, ALT works to protect land of significant value to our region’s unique scenic landscape, biodiversity, and water quality. Additionally, ALT protects land to improve quality of life for current and future generations by offering recreational and educational opportunities.

ASWP works to connect people to birds and nature through its programs, projects and places.

Founded in 1991, the Hollow Oak Land Trust is a nonprofit conservation organization that protects and connects greenspace with an emphasis in the Pittsburgh Airport Corridor.

Book Swap
Do you have a bird book lying on the shelf that you haven’t used in a while? If so, you might be interested in bringing it to a Bird Book Swap at the PSO Annual Festival this May! We welcome field guides, regional bird references, and other bird-specific books, but just bird books this time. This will be a free swap, so you can take a book, leave a book, or just browse. If your books aren’t taken before the banquet, please plan to retrieve them.
