Description: These two trails make a short loop starting at the parking lot. This area has been good for wintering owls and possibly has been loved too much by birders as owls may have moved to more secluded spots since they were hard to find in recent winters. It is a good place for wintering Hermit Thrush, Red-breasted Nuthatch, and Ruby and Golden-crowned kinglets. Pine Warbler usually can be found in migration. American Woodcock has been regular starting in March in this area. The section of Evergreen Trail heading out toward Persimmon Pond has been one of the best spots to see breeding Blue-winged Warbler sitting on top of the cedars and often Ruby-throated Hummingbird. |
