Juniata Valley Audubon Society Coffee Sales
Juniata Valley Audubon Society (JVAS) partners with Honduran farmer Emilio Garcia to sell organic practice, shade-grown coffee. Emilio preserves bird habitat in the forest canopy above the coffee plants and protects entire forest habitat on his farm near Marcala, Honduras, so birds like Golden-winged Warblers overwinter on his farm. No pesticides are used so the coffee is healthier for birds and people.
The medium-roast coffee will be for sale in 12 oz. bags for $14 and 2-pound bags for $28. Coffee is ground or whole bean.
Juniata Valley Audubon Society is represented by Mike and Laura Jackson, who are also PSO members. Laura serves on the PSO Board as the Conservation Chair. Juniata Valley Audubon Society is a chapter located in central Pennsylvania (Blair, Bedford, Huntingdon, Mifflin, Centre, Cambria).

This book recounts a year-long birding quest across Pennsylvania in 2021.
The quest was to see at least 67 bird species in each of the state's 67 counties. During the quest year, the author (now Professor of Geography Emeritus from Penn State University) coped with the process of retiring after 42 years in academia and the challenges that the Covid-19 pandemic posed for safe travel.
The book chronicles the birding experiences and birds seen as well as the travel and retirement challenges.
