Route Name: Central Elk

Directions: Route begins at Elk Co. line on PA 948 south (=66 east here). Continue SE on PA 948, beyond split with PA 66 into Ridgway, PA. Proceed out of town to South on US 219/Boot Jack Rd. After long downhill, take sharp right onto Castina Rd, then left onto Shawmut Rd. Follow Shawmut as it winds through reclaimed coal tailings back to intersection with US 219 just outside of Brockport. Turn left on US 219 (NE). A ways up, turn right onto Toby Rd (SR2003). About 1.5 miles up is entrance road to Greentree Landfill – take right, go up to landfill, check for raptors. Return down and continue going northeast on Toby Rd. Take left onto Dagus Mines Rd on outskirts of Kersey, PA. At intersection with Rte 948, cross 948 onto Gahr Rd. Go to end of Gahr, checking for raptors, then turn around back to PA 948. Turn right (west) on PA 948. Follow PA 948 to intersection with US 219/Boot Jack Hill Rd. This is the end of the route.
