Shellito's Pond and Fries Road

Directions:  Continue south another 0.4 mile to Shellito's Pond on the right (west) side of the road which is good for shorebirds in the fall. Another 0.5 mile down the road is Fries Road. Presently a bridge is out a short distance down Fries Road, so access is only available from the west end. Once the bridge is replaced, you will be able to turn west here and bird this section. In the meantime, continue south on Hartstown Road for 0.4 mile and turn right (west) on Church Road. Go 1.1 miles and turn right (west) on PA 285. Continue 1.7 miles and turn right (north) on Linn Road and go 1.3 miles to Fries Road. Turn right (east) and bird along the road for 1.5 miles and then turn left (north) on Fries Access Road. This road and Pitt Drive (another 0.3 mile on Fries Road) offer looks at the lake and the woods are good in summer for Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, White-eyed Vireo, and Carolina Wren. Also good for migrating warblers
