Directions: Continue north on PA 308, cross a bridge and note a wetland to your right (east). Go less than 100 yards to Pleasant Valley Road and turn right. When you travel a short distance follow the fork to your right to a parking area. Walk back on the road to a cleared walkway to the wetland that you passed before on PA 308. This is a grand spring locale for Least Bittern, Virginia Rail, Sora, and Common Moorhen. The deciduous forest nearby harbors breeding Yellow-throated Vireo, Red-eyed Vireo, Cerulean Warbler, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, and Scarlet Tanager. Continue on Pleasant Valley Road until you see an open field and pasture with a sizable pond. Canada Goose, Mallard, Killdeer, and Spotted Sandpiper are usually here. |
