Delaware River Access Points in Delaware County
Delaware
DESCRIPTION: Viewing points along the river are limited. Here are the best spots.

DIRECTIONS: Marcus Hook: From I-95, exit at PA 452 South. Follow PA 452 south 1.7 miles to a dead end at Marcus Square Park. Park in the designated area and scan the river. Peregrine Falcon nest on the Commodore Barry Bridge just upriver from the park. Commodore Barry Bridge Boat Launch: This is located directly under the bridge. To access it, follow Flower Street towards the river to the parking area. Flower street parallels the bridge on the east side and is most easily reached from PA 291 (2nd St) in Chester. Governor Prinz Park: From I-95, exit at PA 420 South. Follow the road to Second Street and turn right, then immediately left into the park. Walk down to the river and scan for waterbirds. Lower Airport: From Governor Prinz Park, go east on Second Street 1.0 mile to a dirt parking area on the right just north of the railroad tracks. Walk along the tracks towards the river and check for sparrows along the way and waterbirds at the river. Warning: A portion of the walk borders a Federal Aviation Administration restricted zone which is routinely patrolled and trespassing is forbidden. STAY ALONG THE RAILROAD TRACKS! Behind the airport: Continue east on Second Street another 0.25 mile and turn right on Hog Island Road. Go 1.4 miles to the pull-off next to the river and scan the river from there. This has been a good spot to look for hurricane-born birds.
