DESCRIPTION: This park has two small lakes and groves of pines and spruces. The breeding birds include northern warblers such as Black-throated Green and Blackburnian. Laurel Lake is the better of the two lakes for migrant waterfowl. Koppenhaver Trail, a one-mile loop which starts at the Fuller Ball Field, and Railroad Bed Road are the most productive trails for birding. Follow the Koppenhaver Trail to get access to the west end of Railroad Bed Road. |
DIRECTIONS: From US 30/PA 233, go north on PA 233 for 13.4 miles to a Y where PA 233 goes left. Bear right on Pine Grove Road and go 0.1 mile to the Fuller Lake parking area on the right. Or from Exit 11 off I-81 go south on PA 233 for 7.9 miles and turn left (east) on Pine Grove Road fo 0.1 mile to the Fuller Lake parking area on the right.
To get to Laurel Lake and the east end of Railroad Bed Road, continue east on Pine Grove Road for 2 miles and turn right into the parking area next to the lake. There are three parking areas from which to check the lake. Continue on Pine Grove Road another 0.2 mile to Railroad Bed Road on the right. The road is about 2 miles long.
