DESCRIPTION: This 3,394-acre park includes a 250-acre lake, bogs, and pine and spruce forest. The Moss-Hanne Trail is the most rewarding for finding the birds typical of this area. Going by bogs and wet forest, the birds listed above as well as other northern breeders can be found. The first mile or so of the Moss-Haane Trail should yield the species listed above. In invasion years, this park can be very good for winter finches (crossbills, Evening Grosbeak, etc.). |
DIRECTIONS: From Alternate US 220 north of State College, take PA 504 west 11.6 miles to the park. After crossing the bridge over the arm of the lake, turn left into the park entrance and follow the road to its terminus at a parking area. The Moss-Hanne Trail starts here.
