DESCRIPTION: This 170-acre property is comprised of 70 acres of meadows, a myriad of hedgerows, wetlands, a 2-acre millpond, Darby Creek, and successional and mature Woodlands.
There are a variety of trails leading around the property. The trails take you through every type of habitat present. The meadows in the fall/winter host an abundance of sparrows while the hedgerows and woodland edges host a variety of migrant songbirds in the spring.
This is private property and you're encouraged to become a member of the Brandywine Conservancy (http://www.brandywineconservancy.org/index2.html). Accessing the preserve is offered as a privilege to members. Please stay on trails and abide by the hours and days that the property is open. |
DIRECTIONS: From PA 3 /PA 252 in Newtown Square, go north on PA 252 for 2.7 miles and turn right on Waterloo Road. Go 1.09 miles and turn right into the preserve. You will see a "Waterloo Mills Preserve" sign and a large red gate which leads to a gravel road. Go down the gravel road to the parking lot and kiosk.
