Knob Hill Park (Knob Hill Community Park)
Allegheny
DESCRIPTION: Knob Hill Park is a 116-acre facility offering many recreational facilities, but also has a trail system which is good for birding. The Sean DeArment Trail & Summit Trail Extension generally provide the most species of birds and are away from the disc golf course area. It is a dirt trail and muddy areas can be expected. The Shadow Wood Trail is a gravel trail mostly through heavily wooded areas. The Knob Park Trail (section that follows the perimeter of the disc golf course) provides a nice variety of birds during spring and summer. There are many "casual" trails off of the main trails that provide good birding habitat. Across the road, the Thorn Hill Trail passes through a wooded section before continuing into an industrial park area. Winter: Cardinal, Downy Woodpecker, Hairy Woodpecker, Red-bellied Woodpecker, White-breasted Nuthatch, Blue Jay, Crow, Tufted Titmouse, Chickadee sp., Song Sparrow, Bluebird, Red-tailed Hawk, Robin, Cedar Waxwing, Junco.
