DESCRIPTION: This area is an 82.5-acre township park, with an additional 38 acres known as Briar Hill.
A mixture of mature deciduous and evergreen trees, meadows, pristine ponds, wetlands, and upland woods.
Open dawn to dusk, port-a-potty bathroom, and water fountain on site (waterproof shoes are helpful).
The only signage here is the entrance for Prophecy Creek and another sign for Briar Hill. To reach this area you would park in the lot. From the parking lot walk west and cross a green metal bridge. Continue to your right and you will see a sign for Briar Hill. There is a possibility of horses on the trail to the right. The list includes Grasshopper Sparrow, both Cuckoos, Yellow-breasted Chat, Rose-breasted and Blue Grosbeak, Baltimore and Orchard oriole, Great Horned Owl, American Redstart. Briar Hill holds most of the rarer species during the breeding season. Great thrush area. |
DIRECTIONS: From the intersection of US 202 and PA 73 in Whitpain Twp, go southeast on PA 73 (W. Skippack Pike) for 2.5 miles to the entrance on the left (just past the Shady Grove Elementary School - also on the left).
