Frances Slocum State Park

DESCRIPTION: The Park consists of 1,035 acres of woods, fields and a horseshoe-shaped lake covering 165 acres. Located in an area receiving significant developmental pressure, the park is a haven for wildlife.

DIRECTIONS: From I-81 take Exit 170B to PA 309 north 7.2 miles. Turn right (east) onto Carverton Road and drive 4.2 miles. Turn left (north) on West 8th Street, go 1.3 mile and turn left onto Mt Olivet Road. The Park entrance is one mile on the left. Get a trail map at the Park Office. The lake holds waterfowl especially during migrations, also Bald Eagles are common in the early Spring. Many species of forest and field birds can be seen along the trails and in the picnic areas. The marshy area off Mt. Olivet Road west of the Park entrance is especially good for birding. There's a place to park your car at the trailhead gate.
