DESCRIPTION: Mostly open fields and ponds edged by a small woodlot to the north; formerly a public golf course, but now overgrown with young weeds; several small ponds; cattail wetlands behind the north corner; clear panoramic view from higher spots; no bicycles or motorized vehicles permitted on the paths (cart paths).
Hawks, sparrows, warblers, meadowlark, and assorted urban songbirds. |
DIRECTIONS: From the intersection of I-83 and US 30 in York, go west on US 30 for 1.5 miles, cross Roosevelt Ave. And bear right onto Loucks Road. Go 0.3 miles to the well-signed parking lot on the right, across from Ivan Drive (sign says Memorial Hospital).
Walk the well-marked trails that start at the parking lot. The north and west edges typically yield the greatest diversity of species. No bicycles or motorized vehicles allowed.
