Algerine Swamp
Lycoming
DESCRIPTION: This is a pristine bog in which to see many bog-related species such as Nashville Warbler, White-throated Sparrow, and Alder Flycatcher. In addition, Red Crossbill have been confirmed nesting here and the spruces have nesting Red-breasted Nuthatch as well. It does not have formal trails through the area, so access is not easy. You can do some birding from the road, but more can be found off-road. It is very easy to get lost in this area, so be sure to bring a GPS unit with you if you plan on exploring this area.

DIRECTIONS: From PA 414 in Cedar Pines, go northwest on Gamble Run Road (located less than 0.1 mile north of the Brown Township Volunteer Fire Company, which is on the east side of PA 414), for 2.9 miles to the Algerine Swamp sign on the left. Park on the right just before the sign.
