DESCRIPTION: This scenic overlook provides spectacular views of the valley to the north as well as some fine birding. Ruffed Grouse and Wild Turkey abound in the surrounding forest and Cerulean, Black-throated Green, and Black-throated Blue warblers nest. In spring and fall, migrating Common Nighthawk and raptors can be seen. At night Whip-poor-will and Barred Owl can be heard calling.

DIRECTIONS: From Mcalisterville, go north on PA 235 for 5.7 miles and turn right (east) on Shade Mountain Road. Go 0.5 mile and turn left onto the 0.7 mile access road to the overlook.
