DESCRIPTION: This agricultural area situated in the northern mountains attracts wintering field birds such as Horned Lark, Snow Bunting, and Lapland Longspur. Look for recently manured fields. The area is also good for Rough-legged Hawk and other wintering raptors. Driving the 15-mile loop described below will take you through the best areas to look for these species, but exploring other roads in the area can be worthwhile, also.

DIRECTIONS: From US 15/PA 184 about 19 miles north of Williamsport, go west on PA 184 for 2 miles and turn left (south) on Cemetery Road. Go 1 mile and turn right on Lepleys Road. Go 0.5 mile and turn right on Wolf Run Road. Go 0.4 mile and turn left on Caldwell Road. The lefthand bend in the road has been a particularly good spot for the field birds listed above, but conditions can vary year to year. Go 2 miles and turn right on PA 184. Go 2.3 miles and turn right on Wolf Run Road. Go 2 miles and turn left on Cogan House Road. Go 0.5 mile and turn left on Cemetery Road. Go 1.8 miles and turn roght on PA 184 to return to US 15.
