Kahle Lake
Venango Clarion
DESCRIPTION: This 251-acre manmade lake is the best Venango/Clarion County site for migrating waterfowl. The eastern half of the lake is situated in Clarion County, the western in Venango County. All of the common grebes and ducks are present in spring following ice break-up. Fall migration is not as productive, but lasts longer. Uncommon to rare records include Red-necked and Eared grebes, Long-tailed Duck, all three scoters, Great Black-backed Gull, and Black and Caspian terns.

DIRECTIONS: From Exit 45 on I-80, go north on PA 38/PA 208 for about 1.5 miles to where PA 208 turns right. Continue on PA 38 for 1.8 miles and turn right (east) on South Kahle Lake Road. Go 0.8 miles and bear left on Lakeview Road. Go 0.3 mile to the Clarion County side parking lot entrance on the left. Continue east on Lakeview Road for 1 mile and turn left (north) on Community Center Road. Go 0.6 mile to a T and continue left on Community Center Road. Go 0.7 mile and turn left (west) on Neely Road. Go 0.6 mile and turn left (south) on North Kahle Lake Road and go 0.5 mile to the parking area. Return north on North Kahle Lake Road for 0.4 mile and turn left (west) on North Kahle Lake Road. Go 1 mile and turn left (south) on PA 38. Go 0.45 mile to the gated road on the left.
