Salt Springs State Park
Susquehanna
DESCRIPTION: This 842-acre park offers a gorge with three magnificent waterfalls surrounded by a virgin hemlock forest and trails. At the base of the gorge is a bubbling salt spring, traces of an 1850s woolen mill, and mid-19th century farmhouses and barns. The hemlock lined gorge supports nesting Louisiana Waterthrush, northern warblers, and Dark-eyed Junco. Bordering successional fields and trails add a variety of edge species.

DIRECTIONS: From the intersection of PA 29 and PA 706 in Montrose, take PA 29 North. Go 6.5 miles north to Franklin Forks Village. Turn left onto Silver Creek Road and go 1.2 miles to the park entrance on the left.
