Winter Snipe Spot (Conestoga Creek at Shirktown Rd)

DESCRIPTION: This spot in eastern Lancaster County (very near to Morgantown, Berks County) has wintering Wilson's Snipe from mid-November into April. Anywhere from four to a dozen. This site also gets a few Least Sandpipers and yellowlegs during migration.

DIRECTIONS: From the intersection of PA 23 and PA 10 just west of Morgantown, go west on PA 23 for 2 miles and turn left on Shirktown Road (Note: the north side of this intersection is California Road). Go 0.6 mile to the bridge over the creek and pull into the driveway on the right just over the bridge. Scan the creeksides and islands downstream of the bridge.
