Adult male.

Habitat:
Farm with fields and a small woodlot.

Distance from bird:
30-100 yards.

Viewing Conditions:
Overcast.

Optics Used:
Bushnell 10x42 binoculars.

Description:
Larger than a Sparrow, smaller than a Robin. All black head, throat and back. Black wings with two white wing bars. Yellow belly and undertail coverts. The tail is either black, or yellow with a very wide, black terminal band.

Behavior:
It was foraging in the nearby trees and at a feeder.

Separation from similar species:
It's the only yellow Oriole I've ever seen. Audubon's has a yellow back.

Discussion:
According to the homeowners, the bird has been present since January.

How positive are you about the identification:
Yes. I received an alert about this bird, plus I've seen them several times down along the coast in various places.

Description:
Small oriole, adult male, bright yellow on belly, black head and back, bright yellow rump patch, two bold white wing bars.

Behavior:
Flew in from the woodlot and landed on the top of a tree near the viewing area. Flew from the tree to the feeder area where it landed on a hopper feeder and was eating jelly.

How positive are you about the identification:
Yes, seen by many others and not a bird we have in PA.
