Description:
short stubby all white heron. legs were all all black and had a yellow stubby bill.

Behavior:
while counting swans looking for any tags or bands for a possible trumpeter i would occasionally look up to watch ring billed gulls flying over the point. My first thought was it was a great egret because it was more likely in our area. I had my camera and was able to get a lot of photos as it flew west towards Watts bay.

Separation from similar species:
Body size was comparable to green heron but slightly larger. Neck length was short not long like a great egret or great blue heron.
