Habitat: Lone cedar tree in meadow-like field
Distance from bird: 10-20 feet
Viewing Conditions: Clear day, about 20 minutes before sunset
Optics Used: Nikon Monarch 5 8x42; iPhone 8 for pictures
Description: Black and white bird, with white chest and belly. Backside mostly black. Head was boldly patterned black and white, and there was thin but bold black striping on sides of chest. Small golden spot in front of face. Did not hear any songs or calling.
Behavior: Bird was foraging on cedar tree, with quick flights off and back on.
