Description: Large long necked waterfowl observed flying down ridge towards lookout, first assessment of canada geese was reassessed as flap rate wasn't correct and the birds appeared to have broader wings and hunched backs that ruled out cormorrant. Birds took one large circle gaining some altitude and through the scope could clearly see long pink legs extending beyond the tail, white patch in the coverts/lower flight feather region of the top wing, and rich chestnut coloration on the back.
Behavior: Group observed flying downridge, they made one large circle before continuing along ridge to the west
How positive are you about the identification: Yes, had good view through the scope as the birds made a large circle and there are no other species with that solid of a body pattern, long pink legs, and white in the wings
