2025 Frontiers in Ornithology Travel Award
In order to support the development of young ornithologists from Pennsylvania, the PSO is supporting one student to travel to the 2025 Frontiers in Ornithology Student Symposium in Seattle, Washington on October 4th, 2025 (details here: https://frontiersinornithology.com/).
Applicants ages 13-23 are eligible for the award and may self-nominate or may be nominated by a supporter. You may not nominate someone without their knowledge and support.
The PSO will reimburse the recipient up to $750 to help cover costs of travel, lodging, and food in Seattle, Washington for the event after receipts are received in October of 2025 following the event.
In order to complete your nomination, please send the following information to Joe Gyekis by May 31, 2025.
Scholarship selection will be made by the PSO Education Committee.

- Describe why you are interested in attending the Frontiers in Ornithology event:
- The award you are applying for is a reimbursement scholarship for $750. If you were selected as the awardee, are you able to pay for attendance yourself and then submit travel/lodging receipts for reimbursement after the event?
- If you are selected as the awardee, you would also be expected to write an article for the PSO Pileated newsletter, present a webinar for our education series, or make a presentation at the PSO annual meeting within a year. Are you able to do this?
